The U.S. News gave the dental industry some promising news by naming two dental career in it’s top 10 of the top 100 jobs list for 2014. Dentists came in at No. 3 job, meanwhile dental hygienists rounded out the top 10.
In the article, dentists were projected to add 23,3000 new jobs up to the year 2022. Noting the ever-popular Dr. Seuss statement “Teeth are always in style,” it’s widely agreed upon the profession has no threat of going away.
With that being said, it’s no surprise that dental hygienists came just behind dentists in the list at No. 10. Hygienists continue to play a major role in oral hygiene and education. These duties are incredibly important in a dental practice. With good salary outlook, employment growth is expected to jump 33 percent from 2012 to 2022.
This is a promising list for the dental industry. Factors for the outlook include the increase of cosmetic dentistry along with a growing older population of baby boomers. The outlook of dental care is looking up and so are the careers associated with it.
Coming in first on the list was software developer, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts nearly 140,000 new positions created before 2022.
