Gelato Prophy Paste 3-Peats as Top Prophy Paste for 2015

Screen Shot 2015-01-13 at 4.52.47 PMGIBBSTOWN, N.J. – It’s a 3-Peat for Keystone Industries and their highly reputed Gelato Prophy Paste. For the third consecutive year, Gelato has taken home The Dental Advisor’s award for Top Prophy Paste, making it once again the top choice for dental professionals.

This prophy paste was evaluated by 35 consultants in over 2500 uses, and ended the testing with a 91% clinical rating.

Other than the numbers speaking for themselves, there are plenty of great reviews that helped The Dental Advisor solidify Gelato as their choice for the top prophy paste. Comments such as “Does not splatter”, “Easy to rinse”, and “Cups are color-coded and easy to open” for why Gelato has such a highly regarded reputation.

Gelato is now a 3-Peat winner of the Top Prophy Paste Award (2013, 2014, 2015).

Gelato is now a 3-Peat winner of the Top Prophy Paste Award (2013, 2014, 2015).

Gelato Prophy Paste provides smooth, pliable and splatter-free application. The 1.23% fluoride ion Gelato paste is perfect for high-luster polishing and stain removal, but it remains gentle enough on the enamel with minimal enamel loss.

The paste comes in boxes of 200 individual disposable cups for convenient use. The disposable cups also eliminate cross contamination and include a prophy ring for ease of application on the patient’s teeth. For more options, the paste comes in 6 ounce (exports only) and 12 ounce jars.

Available in four different grits (fine, medium, coarse, and x-course), Gelato will take care of your various stain removal needs. Typically, hygienists use the fine grit for routine use and the medium grit gives a little more stain removal power. The coarse paste is required for removing moderate to heavy stains. No matter the job, Gelato Prophy Paste provides exactly what dental professionals need.

Keystone Industries continues to put forward the largest assortment of great-tasting Gelato flavors such as Pina Colada, and Orange Sherbet. The paste line also has Mint, Cherry, Bubble Gum and Raspberry flavors for a plethora of flavor options to satisfy picky clients. The individual cups are clearly labeled for quick retrieval and application.

Overall, Keystone is proud of this highly regarded review from The Dental Advisor. As a company that strives to create the best quality products at the best price, Keystone is proud to say Gelato Prophy Paste has hit the mark with quality and price.

Statistics and feedback are what gave Gelato such a high rating and awards three years running now, but it also speaks wonders for the high-quality work Keystone Industries puts into their American-made dental products. Across the board, dentists and lab technicians alike, give Gelato and the various amounts of other products great feedback.

With the new acquisitions of Bosworth and Enamelite coming onto the table in 2014, expect the high ratings to keep pouring in for Keystone.

Keystone Employees Donate to Help Chase a Cure

Not everything on this blog has to be about dentists and teeth. This post is a feel-good story about one of our very own, which left many with beautiful smiles.

In October of 2013, Chase Kemberling was diagnosed with Lymphoma and was treated at one of the best Children’s Hospitals in the country at Penn State Hershey. A long stay in a hospital through the holidays can be extremely difficult for anyone, let alone a child. Luckily for Chase, son of Keystone Industries employee Emily Kemberling, loads of generous and thoughtful people donated gifts to the hospital for the children. This brought and exuberant amount of joy to Chase, fellow patients, and everyone surrounding them.

Chase’s stay at the hospital turned out to pay-off. As of January 2014, Chase was in remission of his cancer. With such excellent news, of course Chase and his family and friends were overwhelmed with amounts of happiness. But, he made sure he would return the favor of the holiday joy he received.

Fast-forward to holiday season 2014. Chase and his brother Travis began ‘CHASE-ing A Cure’, and collected gifts for their first annual holiday toy drive. Among the numbers of good people to donate to this cause were employees at Keystone’s Gibbstown, NJ facility.

Above, see some of the pictures that captured the moments of the toys being received and given out to children at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA. The Lebanon Daily News covered the event, and posted a photo gallery online for your viewing pleasure. The local CBS21 covered it for TV as well.

We hope everyone has a Happy Holiday and wonderful New Year!

Which Halloween candies should you eat and avoid?

Although you may be excited about Halloween at the end of the week, just remember: it’s a dentist’s least favorite holiday.

Before you dive into your child’s trick-or-treat bag or crack open those candy bars you were given at work, take into mind that too many of these candies are no where near as good as others are, and you might be better off sticking to certain kinds. We know, we sound like your mother warning about cavities and sweets, but hopefully this list outlines what to eat-up on Halloween and what to try and avoid:

product_taffy_07Worst: Any type of sticky or gooey candy, such as: caramel, taffy, and nuts. It doesn’t take a genius to figure this one out. These types of candies will stick all over your mouth, get into those hard-to-reach places, and stay there. The longer they stay there, the more problems you’ll encounter, such as bacterias and cavities. Just don’t do it.

GobstopperNot great, but not too bad: Hard candies that are just daring you to break your teeth on. These can range from jawbreakers to lollipops, or just anything that is asking to chip or cut your teeth and gums. They also have a tendency to become sticky, and thus remaining in your mouth longer to attract unwanted bacteria and acids.

Orbit_Sugarfree_Gum_WintermintBest: Sugar-free gum. The American Dental Hygiene Association has been running the National Dental Hygiene Month throughout October with Wm. Jr. Wrigley Company, promoting the chewing of Orbit’s sugar-free line over anything. It’s a solid call not only because there is no stickiness associated with it, but also because the natural sugar it is sweetened with, xylitol, does not allow bacteria to be formed on it. Same great gum, less damaging to your teeth.

We hope you enjoy the Halloween holiday this weekend! If you’re doing anything dental related, make sure to post on our Facebook page or tweet at us!

October is a big month for us all: dedicated to breast cancer awareness, dental hygiene

It’s a busy month of awareness all-around for the dental industry. Not only is the American Dental Hygiene Association running a month-long campaign for National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM) to raise public awareness for good oral health, but October is also the month dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness as well, where you’ll see pink colors decked out everywhere to show support (including our own website).

On the AHDA’s website, there is an individual event page for everything related to NDHM. They’ve partnered with the W.M. Wrigley Company for the fifth consecutive year, focusing mainly on the four components of oral hygiene and ways to improve public awareness about bettering oral health. There is a “selfie” based contest being conducted as well as posters available to be downloaded to put online or in your office on the ADHA website. Below, you can watch a video announcement from ADHA President Kelli Swanson Jaecks on sponsoring the NDHM month and things to come.

NDHM-2014-banner

As we all know through various companies and organizations support and promotion, October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The majority of people today have been affected by this horrible disease in some shape or form, which is why the spread of awareness and support is vital in helping fight back to find a cure. At Keystone Industries, the past couple of years we’ve sold pink breast cancer awareness-themed Pro-Form mouthguards with portions of the proceeds going towards breast cancer research. Athletes and dentists from all over have been thrilled with the performance and protection of these mouthguards, so showing this kind of support with it going to a good cause does indeed help out. This year, we took it up a notch, and made our whole website pink in support, too.

We've updated our website for the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We’ve updated our website for the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Both of these calls for awareness this month are for good causes, and beneficiary to everyone inside and outside of the dental industry. Be sure to spread the word of the meaning of this month positively with friends on social media so we can help spread it even more! Oral health and breast cancer affects everyone’s lives, and it’s up to us to help make a change.

Insight on Bleaching Trays and the Tooth Whitening Market

Tooth whitening is the most-requested procedure by patients, no matter the age, according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and this has become ever-so popular within the last two decades. With this in mind, not all patients have the luxury of affording top-of-the-line cosmetic dental work. Most that fall into this category resort to trying over-the-counter products, in hopes of snagging a deal on a fast, affordable way to whiten their teeth, with long-lasting results. There are tons of different products available to be taken home and whiten teeth, which can impede on the selection process. The teeth whitening and bleaching manufacturing market has been saturated with competition, and IBISWorld estimated a growth of only 0.9% in the market from 2007-2012. Consumers can (and will) turn to a cosmetic dentist for thoughts and advice on where to go from here, and that’s where Keystone Industries bleaching tray materials and kits come into play.

Currently, the industry is spread across four categories: dental-professional application, dentist-prescribed take-home kit use, over-the-counter consumer purchases, and non-dental options. Keystone offers products in two of these categories, of the former that is recommended. Being able to provide products for various needs is essential, and both professional materials for bleaching trays and also the take-home whitening kits for the patients thrive this market. With the ADA advising patients looking for these types of procedures to consult with a dentist for their best options, there is no better time for practices to load-up on the right materials for the right price, which Keystone offers.

Keystone Industries Bleaching Laminates (above) are your best bet for creating bleaching trays.

Keystone Industries Bleaching Laminates (above) are your best bet for creating bleaching trays.

The Keystone bleaching laminates are among the best for dental professionals for many reasons. Since this material is vacuum-formed to become a custom-fit tray, a type of work Keystone has a great reputation for, the fit for the patient is second to none. When the tray is created, the foam-lined tray withstands and absorbs the bleaching product, causing less leakage and thus decreasing bleaching time and making it less sensitive on the patient’s teeth. Since the bleaching solution used for in-office visits has a higher percentage of peroxide, the application time needs to be quicker to avoid tooth problems. Another suitable option we offer for creating bleaching trays is our Soft EVA, which is a clear Pro-Form material that is easily able to be trimmed and available in square or round laminates.

Not every patient wants to undergo bleaching at the dentist office though. In that case, an office can offer them a take-home kit that stands out above the rest. Dentists who aimed at giving patients a long-lasting white smile from home developed Niu Nait, which comes in 16 or 22 percent carbamide peroxide concentration. No strips, no hassle, and no pain is what this kit thrives itself on, which coincidentally is what every patient looks for in a take-home whitening kit. After the dentist fits the Pro-Form laminate to the patient’s teeth, they are free to go to apply the concentration in the comfort of their own home.

Niu Nait (below) was developed by dentists to allow patients to get a bright smile on their own time.

The role as a dental hygienist is to offer factual information and available treatment options. Leaving the process of an evaluation and whitening in the dentist’s hands is the way to using stronger, more reputable materials at a higher price for a solid, bright outcome. Some customers may want to be as cost-effective as possible and still use a reliable and long-lasting product, which makes the Niu Nait Take-Home Kit a perfect option. This area of dentistry and competition that comes with it has made the market of manufacturing bleaching trays and materials difficult, so consulting a dentist for professional opinions, treatments, or prescribed kits is the way to go about bleaching teeth in this day and age.
